Frequently Asked Questions

Cybercon broad line of innovative, scalable network security solutions allow you to cost-effectively secure your network without sacrificing performance. Providing multiple layers of defense, we are able to provide security throughout your network, ensuring that critical assets are protected by best of breed firewall, VPN and intrusion prevention solutions.

  • Firewall
A firewall is a system or group of systems that is plugged in behind the router at the Internet connection and implements your security policies and protection. It does this by first blocking unwanted traffic or users from the services you are trying to keep protected. Secondly, it grants access to other traffic or users in which you have already specified as acceptable.

  • VPN (Virtual Private Network)
A VPN enables you to set up secure communication "tunnels" between your protected network and those traveling employees, or remote offices you currently have. A VPN tunnel uses encryption and other security mechanisms, like IP hiding and translation, to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted. With a firewall and VPN working for you, it is easy to allow others to securely access data from virtually any location while controlling access to your network.

  • IDS (Intrusion Detection System)
An intrusion detection system (IDS) is an active process or device that analyzes system and network activity for unauthorized entry and/or malicious activity. The way that the IDS detects anomalies can vary widely; however, the aims are the same — catch perpetrators in the act before they do real damage to your resources. IDSes protect a system from attack, misuse, and compromise. It can also monitor network activity, audit network and and system configuration for vulnerabilities, analyze data integrity, and more. Depending on the detection methods you choose to deploy, there are several direct and incidental benefits to using an IDS.
