Internet Backbone Traceroute Page

Public network tools, such as traceroute, allow you to check an ISP's backbone connection and speed in real-time 24 hours a day. In each looking glass page, you can select the "trace" option and in address field, enter: www.cybercon.com or the IP address 216.15.185.100 for Cybercon's network.

Special features of traceroutes to Cybercon network sites:
* Consistent high speed (smaller number in ms) from all over the United States: East coast, west coast, and central states. You can try to do traceroute from different cities in the United States.
* Single backbone for data transfer from four of The Top Five Backbones. No cross connect and traffic jams at backbone intersections.

Traceroute servers from five of the Top Seven Internet Backbones:
(they are hosted by each individual backbone, not in Cybercon data centers)

  • Qwest: http://stat.qwest.net/looking_glass.html
You can select different city to start your traceroute.

  • Level 3: http://lg.level3.net
You can select different city to start your traceroute.

  • AT&T: Use a telnet client to telnet to an ATT router: route-server.ip.att.net.
Once logged in, try: traceroute www.cybercon.com

There are also tools for finding an ISP's upstream providers. You can do this by using something called Border Gateway Protocol or BGP. BGP is often the protocol used between gateway hosts on the Internet. Once you have checked results using our traceroute page, verify the backbone connections using Border Gateway Protocol.

Disclaimer: Above network traceroute servers are not hosted by Cybercon. They are hosted by each individual network outside of Cybercon's data center.
